Is it Spring yet?

I can't remember the last time I was still wearing winter clothing at this time of the year - bring on Global Warming!  I have to admit that we have had some beautiful days - intermittent, but really appreciated.

It has been sufficient to encourage the flowers to bloom - can summer be far away?  The bougainvillea is stunning and the petunias came as a pleasant surprise, remnants of last summer's dropped seeds.

They tie in with the skirts I have been working on over the past couple of days - lots of frills and plenty of warm colours.

They are available for sale at my Etsy shop, or you can buy them at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market at St Augustine's, Hamilton on 4 December, just in time for Christmas.  Hopefully by then it will be warm!

BrisStyle has not been resting on its laurels.  On Saturday 6 November you will find the most inovative designers selling their wares at the BrisStyle Indie Eco Market.  More details in a couple of days.

Fairy Floss, Face Paint, Fairies and Fun

It had it all - you had to be there.  Where?  At the BrisStyle Indie Mother and Child Market last Saturday.  We two Fudges returned from a week in New Zealand on Thursday evening (more of that later in the week) which left me one day to complete some skirts and generally prepare for the market on Saturday.  Not ideal, but it's amazing what you can achieve when pushed.

If you haven't experienced May in Brisbane, then you really haven't lived.  Saturday was one of those crisp, sunny days, pure magic.

This was BrisStyle's first venture into the mother and child end of the market and what a joy it was to be part of the fun.

We had our own fabulous Fairy Queen ...

balloons ...

face painting and fairy floss ...

... and lots of tempting goodies to buy.

There were colouring-in contests, a sausage sizzle, and so much more to keep the children entertained and the parents happy.

My worst nightmare of fairy-floss fingers all over my clothing did not eventuate and even the face paint stayed on the faces of little (and big!) children where it belonged.

There's our Fairy weaving her magic on some entranced tots ... although Little Miss Red Stripes looks as though she needed some convincing!

And now back to the picture at the top of this post - the final word goes to this little charmer.  Her mother bought this Hot Fudge outfit for her and I am relieved that she loves it.  Isn't she just adorable?

If you missed this wonderful market, then pop this date in your diaries now - Saturday 5 June.  This time it will be the full BrisStyle Indie Designers' Market and it is shaping up to being our biggest and best yet.  Between 9 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to grab creations by some extremely talented designers.  Don't miss out.

For a complete report on the day, visit the BrisStyle official blog.

Bag Lady

The BrisStyle market season is in full swing and although I will be out of town for the Twilight Market on 30 April, I am working steadily towards the Mother and Child Market on Saturday 8 May.

It's been a while since I made library bags, and I thought it was a good time to add some drawstring bags as well.

We are blessed with seven grandchildren, all equally gorgeous, of course.  Today is our Sydney granddaughter's fifth birthday and here she is wearing her Hot Fudge birthday skirt.

This range will be available at the BrisStyle Mother & Child Market on 8 May.

Happy birthday Emily!
