Casting a shadow on the waters

Don't ask me - I just took the picture.  We were out strolling with friends when we came across these cute little boats.  It was obvious that they were closely tied.

The bottom boat was a little water-logged, so maybe the ingenious owner tied the other boat on top to flip it over rather than empty it out with a bucket.  Well, it was New Year's Eve ...

Celebrate the New Year by visiting Hey Harriet's Shadow Shot Sunday - you won't be disappointed.  And may all your ships sail smoothly through the waters of 2010.

Cool photo and it does make one wonder what the deal was with the boats. The blues and greens are pretty.

That does seem a strange sight. I'm sure you will enjoy New Zealand and it is a much shorter journey for you than for those of us in the US.
I've not been to Austrailia but I suspect New Zealand is a bit different; I imagine, though, that the people in Austrailia are just as welcoming as those in New Zealand.

The boat as a cover to keep the water out of the other boat. A bit odd, but what fun is boating if you spend all your time baling out the excess water. At least the 'ships' can be handled by one person...

Piggybacked boats--what a capture! The colors and shadows are so rich. It would be a beautiful piece of wall art, I think! I enjoyed reading about your Christmas celebrations--wish my DH and I could find a quaint cottage like that! Happy new year! Jane in St Louis

Not something you see every day. I really like it! Sometimes shadows shooting opportunities show up unexpectedly.

Closely tied....hehehe! Very pretty sheen on that water with the boats sitting on top like that! ...and you visited Sydney? Hope the weather wasn't too terrible for you - we've had a bit of rain of late!

Now that's an odd sight! I'd like to see a tower of little boats all stacked up on top of each other now. A fun find! Wouldn't ya know it? Perfectly fine weather now that I have to go back to work...grumble grumble. I have to admit that I did find the rain quite nice. The cooler temps were a big relief :)

Most interesting! Perhaps the owners are expecting a happy event - the birth of twin dinghies maybe?
